Learn how to implement TotalStorage
Enterprise Storage Server (ESS) in the open
systems environment. Focus on ESS
architecture and how to use TotalStorage ESS
Specialist to configure Small Computer
System Interface (SCSI) Logical Unit Numbers
(LUN) for use on open platforms attached via
Ultra SCSI or Fibre Channel host bus
adapters.
Learn about attachment considerations for
AIX, Sun, HP, Windows NT, NUMA-Q, Windows
2000 and AS/400 platforms. Get a high level
overview of the ESS Copy Services functions
including, Peer-to-Peer Remote Copy (PPRC),
FlashCopy, and TotalStorage Copy Services
and host Call Level Interfaces (CLI).
Participate in hands-on labs using
TotalStorage ESS Specialist to configure the
ESS subsystem and using TotalStorage Expert
to monitor and display ESS performance and
capacity reports.
Hands-On Labs
Eleven labs are included to address:
- adding and modifying host
systems
- configuring SCSI and Fibre Channel
host adapters
- configuring Fixed Block (FB) disk
groups
- adding FB logical volumes
- removing volumes or hosts
- changing the size of open systems
logical volumes
- modifying FB volume assignments
- subsystem device drivers
- TotalStorage Expert reporting
